Someplace Like America

Althought this is only an introduction for a powerful set of stories, it is full of meaning and depth. most of which are hard to even read about. Comparisons of the great depression are made as well as the recession in the 80's, to todays economic crisis. You rarely think about those who are displaced from these economic hardships unless you are directly affected yourself. This introduction talks of the homeless around America and thier stories. Many people feel like just becuase this is America, there should be no depressions, hardships or hard lives. But sadly that is not true and we all know it. The author plays on the fear of losing our homes and our normal lives due to economic downfall, which I must say bothers me greatly. I have a job at Tractor Supply and to me that means the world. It is secure and enjoyable and I know alot of people who would kill for a job like mine, even if it was just part time. Like the author says, ther is no way to know exactly what will happen to our great nation as we endure these economic hardships. Save every penny and make the best of everyday.

My Background

I was born and raised in Stamping Ground Kentucky, a small town north of Geoergetown, Scott county. my father and I own and operate a large scale cattle farm running around 400 head of cattle year round. We also own a cattle ranch in south florida on Lake Okeechobee with 200 acres of sugar cane and 350 more head of cattle. From the time I was a small child I have always enjoyed being outdoors and working with my hands. In the past three years my friends and I have began making and publishing hunting videos. Our show names are Team Smackdown. you can always find my truck with the big team smackdown logo in the back windshield. I have always had a good experience with english until last year when i attempted to take Eng 102 with Joseph Anthony. I ultimately had to drop his class because i couldnt keep up with the pace of his teaching. So here I am. I was born and raised in a Baptist household and have always attended Long Lick Baptist Church. I feel like the United States government should be more agriculturally aware. without the U.S. farmer there would be no america. Washington does not favor the farmer which eventually this will come back to haunt them. on average a single farmer feeds over 900 people a year in todays time. In 1900 the farmer fed only 9 people per year. I am in college to attain an Environmental Science degree at BCTC, but I plan on attending the University of Kentucky and recieve an agricultural economics degree. SUPPORT AGRICULTURE, SUPPORT AMERICA!!!
